Jean Reinhardt (23 January – 16 May ), known to all by his Romani nickname Django (French: [dʒãŋɡo ʁɛjnaʁt] or [dʒɑ̃ɡo ʁenɑʁt]), was a Belgian-born Romani -French jazz guitarist and composer. He was the first jazz talent to emerge from Europe and remains the most significant. Throughout his life he was constantly breaking new ground, always ahead of the pack. In addition to his huge pre-WWII influence on Jazz guitar he was one of the first musicians to develop Bop Jazz.
